How to Enable Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer. They allow websites like searchtempest.com to identify you when you return - in this case so that your latest search parameters can be saved. They are not programs, and can not do anything to your computer.

If searchtempest.com is not remembering the cities from your last search, you probably need to allow cookies. To enable cookies for this site, perform the following steps:

Firefox

  1. On a PC, hit Alt+T, and select "Options". On a Mac, select "Preferences" under the "Firefox" menu.
  2. Click the "Privacy" tab at the top of the options window. Then, in the "Cookies" section, click the "Exceptions" button.
  3. In the box marked "Address of web site:", type "searchtempest.com" (quotes not included).
  4. Click the Allow button.
  5. Click Close to exit the Exceptions window, and OK to exit the Options window.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the Tools by hitting Alt+T. From the Tools menu, choose "Internet Options".
  2. In the Internet Options box, click on the "Privacy" tab at the top.
  3. Click the "Sites..." button.
  4. In the box marked "Address of Web site:", type "searchtempest.com" (quotes not included).
  5. Click the Allow button.
  6. Click OK to exit the Privacy window, and OK again to exit the Internet Options window.

Google Chrome

  1. On a PC, open the "Settings" page, which you can find by clicking the wrench dropdown. On a Mac, you can get this by clicking "Preferences" under the "Google Chrome" menu.
  2. Under the "Settings" tab, click "Show advanced settings..." and under the "Privacy" heading, click "Content Settings..."
  3. Under the "Cookies" heading, click "Manage Exceptions..."
  4. In the "Hostname pattern" field, enter "searchtempest.com" (quotes not included).
  5. Ensure that Behavior is set to "Allow" and click "OK".

Safari

It's not actually possible to allow cookies from a specific site in Safari. If you would like to allow cookies from all sites, except for those known to be hazardous, you can do the following:

  1. Open the "Preferences" window. On a Mac, this is under the "Safari" menu. On a PC, this is under the gear dropdown.
  2. Under the "Privacy" tab, click "From third parties and advertisers" next to the "Block Cookies" heading.

And that's it! Your search parameters will now be remembered whenever you return to searchtempest.com.
