Eek! Safari!
Searchtempest and Safari have trouble playing together. Your easiest option is to use a different browser, such as Firefox. All the options, with instructions, are listed below. Feel free to scroll right down to them, or if you're interested, read on for the technical details.
If you don't think you should be getting this message, or if you just want to grab RSS feeds (which works for any browser), click here. If you find things aren't working as expected, you can get back to this page through the Help link at the top of every page.
Details
In a nutshell, the problem is that Craigslist.org automatically blocks any site that links to them 'too much'. Why they would want to prevent people from sending them traffic, I don't know, but that's what they do. To find out where people are coming from, they check a variable sent by your browser. Firefox and Internet Explorer can both be automatically configured not to send this variable, but other browsers (such as Safari) require a bit more work.
The Fix(s)
Firefox
As much as I like Safari, at the moment it is unfortunately very difficult to get it working with Searchtempest. For the moment, switching to Firefox is probably your best option.
Firefox is a great browser, very widely used, and I imagine you'll find it works at least as well as Safari. You can download the latest version here. This is by far the easiest fix. However, you can also read on for other possible options.
SafariRefManage
One possible fix is to install SafariRefManage, a SIMBL plugin, and use it to block referrers sent from Searchtempest.
However, please note that I take no responsibility for any results of doing this. Since there is no official way to add plugins to Safari, SIMBL is considered a hack. It's fairly widely used, but it can cause problems - particularly when Apple releases updates - so please do your homework and only use this method if you really know what you're doing.
Privacy Software
Another options is to install a privacy/security software suite that blocks the 'http_referer'. Most commercial firewalls do this. One good option for the Mac is NetBarrier by Intego. It's not free though.
There may be a free Mac program out there that will do this, but if so, I don't know about it. (If you DO, please tell me!)
I apologize for the inconvenience. I have done everything I can to make Searchtempest as compatible as possible, but I am working under the restrictions imposed by our Craigian Overlords.. Anyway, once you've sorted things out, just head back to the Searchtempest home page. As long as you don't get redirected back here, you're good to go!
If you have any questions, please visit the feedback page.
Cheers,
Search Tempest Nathan
